Hello dear members of MH! Not too long ago, a competition called Scavenger Hunt was organized for the members, I'm sure many of you still remember it. Since then, we already had the winners, upgraded the site, and built the hype for the first joint interview in history.
The joint interview features
Iceiphoenix(
italics) and
BBB Banana(normal), the winners of the Scavenger Hunt, however we have some special guests as well. I hope you will enjoy this little conversation we had, but not without thanking
~Coffee~ first for the wonderful banner he dedicated for the winners.
So please gather around the fire and listen!
I didn't really follow the Scavanger Hunt, but I was told that I have to talk to you guys. Did you really win it? o.OOf course we didWell we tied
Can you prove it? How can we prove it exactly? We've got the winner's badge and bar.
Lol, I actually have a record of all the threads and answers XD oh, and chat logs too. Yeah it looks pretty good.
Haha, I was so excited when Goodsy PMed me XD.Now probably some members don't know what this is about, or who you are, so can you introduce yourselves. Ladies first!Gahh, I wanted to go second XDYou can go second.Yayz~ Go, BBBro! Well My username is BBB Banana. I usually post at the Fun Forum, Member's zone and some random sections once in a while.
Hangout threads tooHow did you find MH?I was looking for Naruto spoilers. Naruto was my favourite manga at the time I was little inexperienced narutard XD
Tell me something that people don't know about you yet. Open that dirty closet and share something juicy...*before raptureThat's a hard question...
*...(after the rapture) Man that's a really though question XD
Can you give some encouragement Icey? But that IS a tough question 8D...ahh, at least I have more time to think about it. You can do it, BBBro! Dude, you're the self-proclaimed king of randomness. Now say something random and outrageous about yourself that's true!....
....
*... hoping to see the world in 2013 >.>;I'm still thinking XD
Okay so until BBBbro is thinking, Icey! Please take a stage!Erm, ok my username is Iceiphoenix. Like BBBro, I usually hang out around the FF and the member zone ^^.I usually just lurk around the Otaku Cafe, too XD
Also, I'm a scanlator at IEM and I used to be with Muda, Trinity Bakuma and also Chibi Manga, but due to school, I had to resign from those three. So I am a scanlator on MH.So, it's time for you to open up the closet and share us a monster erm... I hate maths 8D. BwahahahhahaaOMG <_>...I'll let you think, because BBB should take the stage now and amaze us with his monster.Well I think Blai and Organizized are the hottest members on MH.
Hot enough to love them? Both Swedish, I see...Well I'm not gay but if I were ir a girl yes.
Hmm, that's acceptable. Icey?A few years ago, when I was in yr 7 and 8, I was known to be quite violent... I used to kick and punch other people playfully-ish, but don't worry, I've never seriously hurt anyone with those attacks. With that and also the fact that I used to do kungfu, I gained the nickname "demon woman".Let's talk about the contest, because that's why you are here. How was the whole experience...for both of you?I seriously thought we weren't going to make it past the first round... >.<. We were totally stumped on the first riddle. Yeah the first day was hell for our team. It's important to remember Googlez_kun, who's not here, but was also very important for us to come this far. T_T
Yeah~~He found out the answer to the riddle, but it took us a while to find the thread. Then BBBro and Googz had an epic fail :>...They just passed it multiple times, and they didn't realize that it was the next clue. I was asleep at the time and then I woke up to help them and I told them that the picture was the next clue XDDD. and after that, we sailed through the first day in 3 minutes XDSo both of you were in one team at first? At first it was just BBBro and Googz who signed up together, then I joined in a day later XD. Team Chibi FTW!!You saved the day right? Were you the first team that day?Haha, I wouldn't say that... I'm sure BBBro and Googz would have figured it out and no, we were last, lol. As I said, we had a lot of trouble on the first clue, we finished about 5 hours before the deadline, while some other teams finished in just a few hours :>Yeah we improved a lot in the last few days XD
A lot of people underestimated usYou were a great team so it seems, how did the separation affect you? Nobody expected it and quite a lot of people complained about that.Greatly, for me :> I could have won without a tie-breaker:p...Anyway, we were such a great team.Yeah but it is the truth. She found a thread before the last day, and shared with us from our team. that thread could have given her the advantage on the last day
not Googz though, I'm so sorry, googz!! T__TI must ask this now, what was UR strategy in finding the clues, did you settle on something as a team, or each on its own way?Well just scrolling really fast though threads related to the riddle only paying atention to edited posts
Speed-scrolling...helllzzz yeah. For the first few days, I scrolled quickly through any threads I thought would be related to the clue, since the clues are edited in random posts. Any edit tags would be seen XD, but for the last few days I used ctrl+F to find edited posts XD.So speed was your main strength right? And 3 sets of great eyes? Haha, yep XD. Fast Internet connection helps as well. Well the smarts to answer riddles was also important
^ that too, BBBro, you were awesome for solving all the riddles on day 6 T___T And don't forget knowing Mangahelpers and its dark corners. I myself got to learn about a few sections I didn't knew.
Well yeah, there are a few. My favourite is the Cooking Corner...I guess it was an awesome experience. You mentioned smarts earlier. I want ask the following related to that. Which day of riddles did you think was the easiest/hardest?The easiest...day 3, definitely. 3 teams solved everything within 20 minutes or so... The easiest was probably the one related to food maybe? It lead us to a bentou thread XD.
Ahh, yeah, I missed out on the bentou day T_T The hardest was probably the color one in the last day. We had an image with all colors and that was the riddle itself.
Oi, he said DAY of riddles.XD Oh I missed day. XD Then forget the bentou day... that was pretty hard XD
Because we are speaking about the actual contest, riddles etc...Please welcome our first surprise guest.Sally:
Hey icey and banana~~ :3The reason I invited her, is because I know that she is the mastermind behind some of the riddles. So the first question is for Sally, please tell us the last day riddles you had, or thought of.Sally:
Hehe...I came up with 4 riddles for the last day - the last 4... of which... only ONE was solved... by ONE person T____TSo...Team Chibi was it? How did you find Sally's riddles? My god, they were super hard T____T. BBBro solved the last one AFTER it finished though XD. I understood the 2nd part of the 13th question though XDSally:
The Hatsune Miku one? nah, the Hana to Yume one XD I solved the All Blue one but out of time as Ice said XD
Sally:
If you solved that, you would have won.And I was close to a few but I guess that is not enough after all XD
I looked through the whole book thread because of the rose one T_T. Hmph, if I didn't tell BBBro about the hidden thread before hand, I would have won even if he found the All Blue one >, but whatever, the past is the past XD Yeah, me too. I read the whole Amazing Books thread and everything related to Shakespeare.
I see from these reactions, that it was a pretty tense, but fun contest do you want another one next year?Oh yeah, it would be awesome to have one next year! I wouldn't mind another one maybe I could be a test dummy to see if the riddles are too hard or not hard enough
Though the starting time kind of clashed with school for the last few daysSally:
Because of timezone?Yeah, it started at 7AM for me. The first few days were fine, since I was still on holidays, but then the final days were when I had school, so the timezones were really inconvenient.Sally:
Yeah, but unavoidable I suppose, even the staff had some problems in that respect as well. Let's move on and I would ask BBB first. What would he change about the contest, if it were to be held next time.Well as I said, I think there should be someone, making a difficulty test for the riddles. So some days wouldn't be too hard or easy as it happened this time. Other than that I think the contest worked pretty well.
So to make the riddles more uniform, regarding the difficulty? Not uniform but the difficulty should increase from day to day
I see, Icey?:p hm, not just 'someone' testing it though, maybe 2 or 3 people. And it would be nice to make the starting times flexible for the teams... like on the last day, I guess. What do you think about the prizes given to the winners and finalists? Haha, I like the treasure chests XD. It's awesome how the finalists got one each too! Love the gold though~ 8D. The custom title was quite hard to decide though >.<. It took me a few days to think about it XD
The 'Chibi' because of Team Chibi, of course and then Onihime because Himeko from Sket Dance is awesome. I've been called "Queen Chibi" a lot...so the 'hime' kinda still relates. Oh yeah, and the 'Oni', because another one of my RL nicknames was demon woman >_> I like the badge and the bar pretty much I think coffee made a great job XD
Yup he did, how did you decide on the custom title? Well it gave me a lot of headaches, but in the end I went for something kinda random. I looked at my sig which contained Katsura from Gintama and reminded an episode were he had "Fruits punch Samurai" as his username, it is also a band's name.
I see. We will probably have another guest arriving soon. He is crazy and awesome and he likes interviews.Sally:
Right...blai:
Yo!o/. I was just wondering, why do you guys think that two from team Chibi ended up in the final? 3 Chibis rule!! Period. Teamwork as well, we get along really well XD. Well because we had loads of patience and we were underdogs and underdogs always win in the end XD.
Ahh yeah... patience was really important on the 7th day >Sally:
Underdogs? Why would you call yourselves that? We really struggled on the first day and then everyone else started underestimating us even more XDYup they never thought we would get to the end XD
blai:
Did you learn anything during the struggle on the first day? Like having a different approach towards the riddles etc that helped you later on?We started to get used to how the riddles worked and then we gradually started to get higher placings each day XD. Our speed of finding the threads and the posts improved too, since we knew what to look for. After day one we started using the last edited by method and that was crucial.
And also knowing if the clue is the final one or not >_> blai:
Thanks for the tip. Now we know _not_ to do that It seems that we are slowly closing in to the end, and with that said, you both have the opportunity to relay a message to family, friends pet etc.. Shoutout to Googz~
Without Googz, we would not have made it through the first round XD. We're really thankful to have had you on Team Chibi~~ Well thanks for everyone on the win thread Portuguese hangout who didn't let me give up on the last day. Thanks to my team mates googz and ice and thanks to our opponents who fired up the competition. Also, read Gintama people.
Please relay some Chibi wisdom for every MH member. Chibi wisdom, you say...?Hmmmmmmmm........Guys, embrace your inner chibi, you never know when your immature self will help in real life XD Always be a kid even when your body is that of an adult only then will you be able to endure the hardships of this fearful life
Thanks a lot guys for joining me and my partners in crime, and agreeing to answer our questions...it was a real pleasure. Will we meet here next time as well? What do you think?Hm, quite possibly XDThanks again, it was me, benelori, see you guys around.
Before we finish though, I had the pleasure of inviting the mother of all competitions here on MH, the creator of the MH Manga and Anime Awards and of course the Scavenger Hunt as well. Please welcome destiny4ever and her greeting.Hi guys~
Well, first of all I would like to congratulate you one more time on winning the Scavenger Hunt. :confetti
You were very committed to the game and always gave your very best. No matter how hard the riddle was you always tried to solve it, whether it was when you were part of the Chibi team or when you were flying solo; and there were some pretty hard riddles, especially during the last stage of the game. I truly hope that you enjoyed taking part in this event, because that was the main goal of it. :)
I would also like to thank and commend the participation of the other hunters. You all did a fantastic job! thumbs I remember feeling completely amazed at how fast some of you were able to figure out the riddles as the days went on, sometimes a clue wasn’t even needed. You truly became the masters of “thinking outside the box”. ;)
And so that you don’t lose your “thinking outside the box” touch, here’s a riddle which answer I saw happening during the scavenger hunt as you guys worked side by side with your teammates and it is one of the reasons why this event was all the more special. ^_^
What costs nothing
but is worth everything,
weighs nothing, but can last a lifetime,
that one person can't own,
but two or more can share?
Destiny~
BTW, is the answer to the riddle "love" or "friendship"?
@ scav - He was multitasking... doing the interview while posting in the win thread. XD
@ riki - That's what I was thinking for the riddle!
Awesome interview,
read gintama people!
(Gratz again o/)
Nice interview, good read. :D
Also, for the uninformed, I was the amazing guest Sally. Just in case anyone didn't know saladesu=sally :cookiehand
Thanks coffee for the banner, badges, bars and all the stuff :D
@Scav:
I kinda didn't knew what to say XD
@orgz:

@Lala:
I sent my thanks to all of you :o
Lovin' some of the typo errors, BBBaka~ ;P
