Another Man Arrested for Uploading Anime to Share 27-year-old man alleges that he only did what was "natural". Yesterday, it was
reported that a 23-year-old salaryman in Yamagata prefecture was arrested for illegally uploading the "Bakuman." anime onto Share. Today, the Kouchi prefectural police arrested yet another salaryman, a 27-year-old in Kounan city, also for illegally uploading anime to Share.
According to the police, the man was quoted as saying, "I only did what was natural for anyone using a file sharing software."
The man had uploaded the first and second episodes of the anime "Ashita no Nadja" on the 3rd at around 10am, without first seeking the permission of the series' copyright holders. The man had also uploaded around 6500 files to Share, including other anime and still images.

But you wouldn't see people from the US arresting people for uploading cartoons for sharing on the web. In America, the people see this as advertisement or a way to let people know that this animated show is amazing and you should go watch it.
Japan views their animations as a sacred product - which isn't a bad thing, but to arrest someone over something so unimportant is a little overboard.
