Now let's get started:
Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun Title: Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun
Episodes: unknown
Status: Airing
Aired: October 2,2012 to ??
Producers: Brains Base
Genres: Comedy, Romance
MAL-Rating: 8.39/10.00
Based on a Manga: Tonari no Kaibutsu-kunDiscussion Thread: HERESummary:Mizutani Shizuku is the type of person who only cares for her own grades. But when she accidentally delivers lesson notes to Yoshida Haru, he becomes convinced they are friends.
Haru turns out to have a very innocent personality, but who would've thought that Haru would actually confess to Shizuku?
A cold-hearted girl and super-troublemaker romance with a fresh new perspective.
Comment:The first episode surprised me with being really funny, entertaining and refreshing. Most of that relates to the main characters, who absolutely don't fit the usual romance tropes. The boy is not mister charming nor is he a bad boy. He and the girl are outcasts, both for different reasons. Don't expect some heavy drama though, it was a nice mix of comedy, romance and a tad bit drama. When you finished watching the first episode you will probably realize that this anime/manga is completely throwing away the usual formula of such series but I think I'm starting to repeat myself.
This series definitely will be a surprise hit of the season so give it a try~
Shinsekai Yori Title: Shinsekai yori (From the new World)
Episodes: 25
Status: Airing
Aired: September 28,2012 to ??
Producers: A-1 Pictures
Genres: Supernatural
MAL-Rating: 7.54/10.00
Based on a Novel: Shinsekai yoriDiscussion Thread: HERESummary:The story is set in Japan a millennium from now. Five children—the protagonist Saki, Satoru, Maria, Mamoru, and Shun—have been born and raised in a tranquil town that can be described as a utopia, overflowing with water and green foilage.
After a certain incident, Saki and the others come to realize the true nature of their world. The five throw themselves into life-threatening adventure and fighting to protect friends and a world on the brink of collapse.
Comment:Definitely an underrated show at this point. Don't be mistaken, the episodes start a bit slow but have an interesting premise. From the 4th episode on the real plot starts to unfold and I have to say that I really liked how it was executed. Could very well turn out into a very interesting mystery/horror series.
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (2012) Title: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (2012)
Episodes: unknown
Status: Airing
Aired: Oct 6, 2012 to ?
Producers: David Production
Genres: Adventure, Action
MAL-Rating: 7.77/10.00
Based on a manga: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 1: Phantom Blood (and possibly later parts too)
Discussion Thread: HERESummary:This is the story of the Joestar family, and their battles against bizarre enemies. Jonathan Joestar's battle against the vampire Dio Brando starts it all, and it continues into roughly each second generation of Joestars through all parts of the story.
Comment:Surprisingly entertaining start, I thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters are weird but likeable (or you love to hate them), the voice cast is doing a pretty nice job and the animation is something out of the ordinary. Well probably everything about the series is out of the ordinary so if you're in for something refreshing, new (or rather old, as this manga is from the 80's) and special you should definitely give this a try!
