A new beginning - Bringing back the Manga
I hope you guys don't think that
this post was the end of the b-day bash! We're just getting warmed up!(perfect timing as today was uber cold ><)
The 7th birthday isn't just any birthday. It has the number 7 in it. And for some, that means good luck. Well in luck is what you are, because we have an announcement that's going to rock your world!
Starting today we're rehosting manga! But njt - didn't you guys take it all down to pursue that project that totally failed?
Yes - yes. I know I hear ya - and I know, OpenManga did ultimately fail. I mean, not everything always turns out to be a success ;). From its ashes though, something was born. And it's because of this grand site that I'm reopening the hosting of manga on MH.
Before I introduce the amazing site, I want to tell you what we have achieved and how it'll affect you.
1) The manga hosted on MH and the other site is with permission.
2) The manga hosted on these two sites are free to download, translate and scanlate just like old times.
3) Translations and scanlations posted on the new site will be eventually printed and first issues will be sent to the people involved (Keep in mind quality will take precedence so no more speed scans)
4) Manga on both sites will be of professional and amateur alike.
5) You'll be able to interact directly with manga artists (and comic artists, for that matter) directly on the new site (and possibly mh too!)
6) You will be able to directly support artists and be a part of their success.
7) A whole lot more content in the future! (Depending on your reactions and how things pan out from here we have a high chance of getting a lot more popular series to continue doing what you like!
8) Work done on these two sites will be legal and something you link your resume to!
9) Highly skilled translators and scanlators will get paid work for upcoming projects!
And the list goes on and on. It may have seemed like the project died, but believe me - that's not how it went down at all. For the past few years I personally have been working for this very moment and I'm extremely excited to finally get to this stage - and just in time for the birthday, no less.
So with that said, I'm proud to introduce MangaReborn!
I'll post about MR in my next post - but for now check out the site!
It still has a few bugs here and there but for all intents and purposes it should work fine. If you do stumble upon some bugs or have some general issues with the site, feel free to send a message via the contact form or post a comment here! :).

Anyhow, this sounds like a cool innovation. I'll definitely look into translating on the new site.
Correct. We won't be hosting everything as it was in the olden days, but we will be hosting more and more series as time goes on :).
All uploaded content will have to be approved now, though - so that's a bit of a bummer but ohh well :). Gotta start somewhere :D.
Thanks for wanting to try the site out :).
In all seriousness, it sounds great. Since these are authors authorizing their works, maybe this would be a way for translators to get noticed professionally?
@Bomber: Since this is all legal, translators will be able to use that for their resumes, like njt said. So yeah, definitely a way to get noticed for professional (and legal) work.
I don't really get the thing about legal stuff and such though. You mean, if I continue posting translations here like I always do, they can be used as a resume for actual application to become a rightful translator? Even though the series I translated are not series with permission from the authors yet? Still don't really get it. >_<"
BTW, you guys are getting the cream of the crop on MR as far as translations and scanlations go, they have some very experienced people working both freelance and in-house to get the initial round of content available (yours truly included!)
Now get registered and get to work!
NJT, you've shown me this website in the past year, and what I mainly noticed since then is that there seems to be a simple interaction between readers and artists - and nothing more. I don't really see any real or KNOWN publishers that have really set foot on mangaReborn. What makes you certain that popular online reading sites like (MangaFox, MangaReader, KissManga, MangaEden) won't steal them and not suffer the consequences? BATOTO is probably the only one that would resist the temptation because of what they represent.
How will MangaReborn get artists to be compensated fairly as they do at NAVER, DAUM, eComiX, PARAN, Netcomics, U17, etc.? And I hope you take into consideration that if you want this idea to be fruitful you can't always be accustomed to only ASIAN comics. You'll have to also be home welcoming to new OEM (Original English Manga) series as well.
You'll want to advertise, affiliate or invite artists from sites like InkOutBreak.com, DrunkDuck.com, AmiLova.com, Tapastic.com, KidJutsu.com, WirePop.com, StrawBerryComics.com, ZoomComics.com, INKD.me, PixieTrixComix.com, SmackJeeves.com, OnlineComics.net and many others that I haven't begun to mention yet.
My only hope is that MangaReborn isn't only limited to manga from the Japanese, Korean, Chinese series - But from other sources ass well.
