Naruto Ch. 309 Translation
I took my time with this chapter so everything should be ready from the get go~ I didn't do the front page and final page starting thing, but every thing else is solid :)

Just as Uchiha Mandara before you... (he says in a way that Madara was someone in the past....)

And actually, I can see what Orochimaru's talking about. All these Akatsuki members are obviously constantly communicating with each other, especially now, and it would probably be pretty tough for Sasuke to find Itachi and battle him one on one without interference from other members. The best thing would be to wait until the Akatsuki is weak and strike at an opportune time.
What gets me is Sasuke is actually willing to let Orochimaru take his body. Ugh.
Not only that, but stops previous assumptions that Orochimaru was stronger than Itachi...
and yes, another akatsuki mission! XD

I'm reading "jingai no iki" to have kind of a triple meaning here: at a level of power beyond human the reach of normal humans; at a metaphorical place where no one else will be; at a point where human morals no longer apply.

I dunno, usually I interpret shiruka as "like I care"... so I'm reading here as "I know who he is, but I don't give a fuck - I'm not gonna follow in his footsteps", rather than "I don't know about him."

The desperately sought reunion ends on a mute note. All that lingers is the bitter taste of powerlessness...

Anyhow, generally speaking, for the sake of "accuracy", the one thing that I think is important is to choose a translation here that doesn't allow people to read the line as entailing that Sasuke does know of Madara (although that may be a somewhat moot point in the end in that it's hard to explain his reaction to the name if he's never heard it before).
I'm curious about the sidetext preview on page 13 - it seems to say something about Sasuke & Sai. Does it confirm the end of the arc or does it say something about the climax of the Sasuke & Sai arc?

Confirms the end of the arc, if those side texts can actually be considered "reliable sources"... it's pretty obvious, though, since it's come to an pretty conclusive end. I'd wager the focus will now shift back to Akatsuki. Maybe we'll get to see the new member? :)

Actually, I think Taylor's lack of sleep had some other, more substantial repercussions on that particular line.
I'd put the translation at:
"You know very well what Akatsuki's up to right now."
You know - not so much that they're moving per se, but specifically what they're doing. :)
Ah! I've notice people complaining about Sasuke now being "more powerful" than Kyuubi, so I think these lines could use some rephrasing:

What needs to be clear is that it's the nature of Sasuke's chakra which is more ominous than Kyuubi's, no the *amount* or *strength*...
Here, while Taylor's translation is definitely valid, it should be noted that the original line has no *direct* reference to Sasuke's power, and that power, powers and strength could all be translated as *chikara* in Japanese, the word the Kyuubi uses to describe the attribute of his in question. Thus, Kyuubi's not necessarily saying Sasuke is more powerful than he is, just that it's hard to believe he has the *ability* to suppress his powers...
To think he'd be able to supress my powers...
Would be an equally valid translation, I think.
