Rumor has it that HUNGRY JOKER did not really manage to appeal to the Japanese readers in the early chapters. Let's better hope the results improved a little over the course, otherwise I'm afraid the series won't make it past the 20 chapters mark...

Long time no read... sorry dear followers for the delay of this chapter! First there were problems with the raw provider and then I caught just about the most nasty cold in several years, so I had to rest for at least 10 days. - Fortunately, I'm feeling better now and saw myself finally up to the job.

Good chapter with lots of explaining in regards to the backgrounds of the story and whatnot. The result were some pretty nasty passages but I think I managed to work everything out just fine in the end. -- Enjoy!

Sorry for the tardiness this week, the head of our little joint project was MIA so the whole process was slowed down a little and I received the PR'ed version of my script only just now.

I hope the contents of this chapter will make up for that. It's a great week, really enjoyed myself here despite some nasty long ass dialogue parts!

Can you believe it? I really made the magical 50! That’s quite the milestone for me, really. I remember how I started translating when I had learned Japanese for, like, six months or so. Boy, what a mess that first script must have been. (I’m actually too ashamed to check for myself…) But here I am a few years later, still one of the slowest fucks who dare to call themselves translators but at least my Japanese has improved to the point where I can work myself through a single chapter without feeling like eating my own face every 10 minutes (out of despair because the Japanese is too difficult)… so that’s some progress, right?

Okay, this one was bitchin'! Had a lot of difficult Japanese bits and bobs in it, so it took me a while longer to work myself through the chapter. But I think I managed to figure everything out just fine in the end.

On the upside: We finally get a more concrete image of the "Eureka" concept. That helps me a lot in translating the series as I don't have be as vague about certain passages. - Though I'm pretty sure this should eventually lead to one or two mistakes in my earlier scripts. (I will check back later and revise them eventually, but the better part of SL's floating around the web will still contain them anyway, so yeah...)

Now look who we have here...! After taking a break from translating (in order to concentrate on my studies) I'm finally back in the game. - Sure feels good!

So this is the newest series from Shueisha's Weekly Shounen JUMP. The name is HUNGRY JOKER and the artist is Tabata Yuuki. This series had been an entry (and the eventual winning title) of 2011's Gold Future Cup. Back then I really, REALLY enjoyed the One Shot and while I didn't find the actual series to be quite as good, I thought it might be a nice start to get back in the TL bizz! This one generally goes out to all fellow regulars from MH's Weekly Shounen JUMP TOC Thread and all HJ Fans who had been anticipating its serialization!

No bird, no airplane, and of course, no Superman! - It's just the slow and lazy translator who goes by the name Prince and wants to start up again after weeks of obligations and sheer hate for Shueisha and JUMP for cutting Oumagadoki Doubutsuen.
