New Manga Shout Out: 7/28/14 - 8/3/14

Welcome to the next New Manga Shout Out. This weekly article introduces you to manga that are new and/or have not been scanlated yet. This week features a thief, a magic user and a boy joining the Shinsengumi. Remember, if you like any of the series, favorite them. One-shot:
Marshmellow is the head of a gang of thieves known as Mitsukubi Condor, and he is obsessed with beauty. One day, a girl named Cocoa comes to him, trying to find the harp that was precious to her village. He decides to help her recover the valuable harp, which plays beautiful music that can draw out rainbows!

Many years ago, a evil witch ruled the continent, and she had many magical treasures. Now the land is ruled by a king, but the witch's treasures remain. A young amateur thief named Sue is determined to sneak into the nearby ruins and steal treasure to help her poor village. On her way, she runs into one of the 3 legendary thieves, Marshmellow, who is obsessed with beauty. He isn't quite as suave as she'd expected, but he seems to have the same eyes as the ancient witch. After their first adventure together, Sue joins him on his journey to collect all the witch's treasures. He claims he is only interested in their beauty, but what will happen if he actually recovers them all?

A young noblewoman once dreamed of becoming a magic user like in the old tales, but her time in magic school has dimmed her passion. One day, a mysterious man comes to her rescue in the forest, using magic like in the old stories. Despite the fact that he is clearly skilled in magic, he is thrilled by the idea of learning new techniques. Since the only way to do that in this day and age is in magic school, he alters his appearance to school-age and decides to accompany her back to school!

The two boys Gin and Jinrou form a tough team in the mountains. One day, Gin decides that the only way they can move forward is to travel to the capital and join the Shinsengumi. It soon becomes clear, though, that they are not tough enough to handle the kind of people they find in the capital. Some of them, including the current Shinsengumi members, smell like beasts to Jinrou, and they seem to have unusual abilities. After Gin's tragic death, Jinrou is determined to become stronger and join the Shinsengumi in his place!

This is what tethysdust said this week:
I enjoyed the Mitsukubi Condor series more than its one-shot. I guess there is a lot more that you can put in a series (like the history, legends, and current political situation), and it seems like there is more to Marshmellow than meets the eye. Yoakemono would probably be a good one for people who want a super-powered-shinsengumi battle manga, and it seemed pretty violent for a shounen. Monogatari no Naka no Hito seemed a little plain, but my opinion is based on two chapters. It's possible that things get really interesting after they get to magic school.

My opinion:
Mitsukubi Condor - If you're interested in reading an action adventure comedy, then you should check this one out.
Monogatari no Naka no Hito - If you like a school life magic/fantasy, then this may be the manga for you to check out. Out of the three, this sounds the most interesting because of the mysterious man.
Yoakemono - This is also an action fantasy, but in a more historical setting so if you like that combination, then this may be the manga for you.
