New Manga Shout Out: 1/7/13 - 1/13/13

Welcome to the next New Manga Shout Out. This weekly article introduces you to manga that are new and/or have not been scanlated yet. Terahara Yuta has the ability to see ghosts and to understand what they're thinking, but he can usually do little about them. He seeks out the genius medium, Sasagami Aoi, and convinces her to take him on as an apprentice. He is determined to become skilled at helping put spirits to rest. Aoi is a cute and domineering young girl who often gets possessed by the unrestful spirits. This tends to result in tons of unfortunately erotic and/or unclothed situations between the two of them, as Yuta attempts to satisfy the spirits that take over Aoi's body!

High-schooler Saionji has moved into a boarding house with a really cute young landlord named Sakura, who also attends his school. Though it's really near the school, the place is pretty broken-down and all the other tenants are strange women. They include little Hana, who wears costumes in public, a sloppy, lazy teacher, and his slightly uncivilized schoolmate Akira. Living in the boarding house does not help Saionji's reputation at school, but he has a huge crush on the landlord. Will he be able to handle living with all these bizarre women, and somehow win Sakura's heart?

Although Ryu has no interest in developing new models, she loves repairing Alcoroids and treats them as if they were living things. One day, a pretty blonde girl comes to talk to her about "Spirits," Alcoroids with souls. Apparently, Ryu's grandfather left her a locked security box which may have some information on how to find Spirits. Now Ryu is searching for Spirits, though she may be a bit too naive in trusting the blonde girl's motives in doing the same. Are there still Spirits around? Could that strange boy that shows up to save Ryu from time to time possibly be one of them?

Nothing really caught my interest this week.
Here's what DrCoke had to say:
Out of the 4 manga I summarized, Kaidan Tochu was by far my favorite. The characters were immediately lovable and full of energy and the art is polished. The plot may not be that original, but I fell in love with this manga right away. I highly recommend it.

Gokeiyaku looks like the art and gag improves as you go further into the manga, but I feel it's very limited by the small amount of characters and gag subjects.

The other two were mediocre at best.

My opinion:
Aruite Ippo!! really does sound like a copy of the classic Maison Ikkoku, but I wonder if it'll be as good as that... Gokeiyaku Kudasai! sounds like it might be a fun read - to find out how she'll sucker someone into buying her crap.
