Welcome to the next New Manga Shout Out. With the no-raws/scans rule on MH, you have to work a bit to find these mangas. Yamada has not had a girlfriend in his entire 30 year life and is still a virgin, so he was very excited when he met Tanaka, whom he had a crush on, at the high school reunion and began going out with her. But because Yamada has absolutely no experience with women, he struggles with even the most simplest of things like holding hands. What makes it more complicated is that Tanaka is also a shy person who isn’t great at leading him through the process. The couple awkwardly makes their way through the relationship one nervous step at a time.

A Collection of Love Stories:

1) Glass Spider: 26-year-old Akio doesn't like weak women, but he's too much of a jerk to get along with strong ones. After his girlfriend left him, he goes on a blind date with a girl named Touko. It isn't long before he realizes that she's only 17 and is still in high school. He decides to date her, anyway, and soon learns that she's no pushover. Will their relationship survive?

2) Tarinai Hito: Jiro, a man considered a failure by his friends for still being just a part-time worker at a clothing store, runs into a drunk girl at a wedding reception. It seems she has problems of her own, as she's the groom's former lover. Perhaps these two were meant to meet each other!

3) Himitsu no Koto: A little story about Nanao and Mitsuko and the secrets that keep them apart.

4) Usagi: Nakane lives together with his female colleague, Kiku. When Kiku goes home early, will he let a flirty dark-haired girl at a drinking get-together threaten his relationship with Kiku?

5) Muku: Sekimoto is doing his student teaching, but he's not sure that he's going to end up as a teacher. Things become more complicated when the cute high school girl Noriko starts to pursue him romantically...

6) Present: Sumika tells Takumi that she wants to travel somewhere with him for her birthday present. Takumi's not thrilled with the idea, since he's not interested in traveling and busy with work. Will he help make her birthday a day to remember this year?

Tsugumi goes to visit her grandmother in the country during her vacation, and then stays on after her grandmother's hospitalization and death. On August 10 of 2019, humanity received a signal, which was verified for its integrity by hundreds of scientists, from an alien life form containing one message: let us meet on Mars on July 7, 2035. Thus began the creation of a space agency representing Earth as a whole named ST&RS. From there, things progressed quickly with man re-landing on the moon in 2022 and constructing many space stations orbiting Earth and the moon. The Space Academy was created to train the upcoming generation of ST&RS.

The same August 10th that Earth received the message, Shirafune Maho spoke his first words and it was “Mars.” Since then, Maho has been an astronomy freak who has nothing but the universe on his mind. He decides he is going to apply for the Space Academy along with his childhood friend, Hoshihara Meguru, and recent transfer and super smart classmate, Amachi Wataru. The trio begins their almost impossible journey of being accepted into the school where only 1% of the applicants are allowed into the academy.

Hikawa Satsuki has been discarded by his traveling grandfather, who is his only living relative. Now he lives alone in a beautiful mansion, full of thoughts of his own worthlessness. One day, his grandfather sends him a strange book, which he learns is called a Tablet. He opens it, releasing a burst of light, to find that it contains mostly incomplete pictures of the Tarot.

Almost immediately, an angry young English woman called Lady appears, insistent that she is the guardian of the book! She explains that the pictures on the pages are called Tableaux, and that they represent summonable entities of amazing power. The incomplete pictures represent entities that are not successfully trapped in the book. She also angrily explains that the light he saw earlier was him accidentally letting loose one of them into the world! Now Lady has forcibly recruited Satsuki to her service, and the two of them-- plus the remaining Tableaux in the Tablet-- have to collect all of the dangerous freed entities!

In 1944, Japan had suffered critical military defeats, but the country was still unwilling to surrender. It was then that the military turned toward 'kamikaze' tactics. This is the story of the recruitment and training of these suicide pilots. Specifically, the soldiers featured are chosen to pilot suicide torpedos called 'Kaiten.' This is a study of the soldiers who chose not to risk their lives for their country, but to sacrifice them completely.

Tsuruta is the head of the art club at her school, but she's not a very good artist. The boy she has a huge crush on, an underclassman named Seto, is both handsome and talented in art! Tsuruta, who has a vivid imagination and a raging teenage libido, can't help being constantly distracted by vivid sexual daydreams. They don't stop at night, either, so Tsuruta is constantly sleep-deprived! Tsuruta is determined to improve her art skills, be a good club leader, and possibly get some attention from Seto in reality!

This is what tethysdust said this week:
My favorite this week was Tokkou no Shima. It seems that the potential suicide pilots will present a very interesting point of view. Otoko no Isshou felt like it could build into a really effective story, though it was a little bit slow at the beginning. On the other hand, Tableau Gate is very action-filled, and seems like it would be interesting for people looking for a fast-paced supernatural action/adventure story.
Here's a note from vyc:
Loved the series this week for me. Love-Lab - A school girl comedy romance that was really fresh to me. I really like the interactions between the two main characters. It seems really natural and was very funny. Not Lives - Series just stared so it is hard to tell but I think it has potential. Would consider keeping an eye on it to see how the storyline progresses and how the characters develop. Stars - new series from Jump so you know it's worth checking out without me saying anything. Very original and cool concept. Characters are great and I really like that it has a plotline bigger than the main characters but still has the ability to have a subplot that includes the characters well.
My opinion:
Any fan of Usagi Drop or other Unita Yumi manga would want to check out Kiki. I'd be interested in reading Not Lives since I'm always up for checking out gender benders. I'm sure St&rs will get scanlated just because it's a Jump manga, although I have no idea how they'll make astronomy popular... Tokkou no Shima would sound like a great serious manga to check out and see the thinking behind someone sacrificing their life for their country.
