New Manga Shout Out: 7/16/12 - 7/22/12

Welcome to the next New Manga Shout Out. With the no-raws/scans rule on MH, you have to work a bit to find these mangas. Taiyo learns that throughout his life, he has cared too much about public perception which will continue to limit his ability as a manga author unless he opens himself up even if it means rejection. With Runa’s help, he learns to believe in his dream and show his true potential.

Soon, Kii and his childhood friend--a quiet, often-bullied girl called Tsukune-- are witness to the resurrection of their friends' corpses into a zombie-like murderous mob crying the single word "magical." Now Kii and Tsukune must try to endure with the other survivors, and try to find out what has happened to their world.

Wandering traveler Kurotsuki Yukiji goes from town to town enjoying the women, food, and culture each has to offer. He is the master of the Kurotsuki style martial art where instead of using brute force, it uses the aiki form where you use the opponent’s strength and manipulate their force against them. It focuses on settling the conflict without hurting both sides and harnessing the “bladeless soul.” Yukiji is traveling to perfect this style and trouble usually finds him although going by his outward appearance, he looks like a peace seeking man.

A young girl is the landlord of the smallest shopping arcade. The shops in this arcade all have their quirks. For instance, there is the lace seller, who only deals in lace that has been used by those now dead, or the store where artificial eyes of animals are sold. The landlord spends her days interacting with the shopkeepers and the customers of the arcade, who all seem to have some connection to death. Many secrets are held by this small arcade and its customers.

Tokitou Haruto, during his first year in middle school, lost all of his friends because of a Science Fiction novel he had read. Unable to cope with the sudden exclusion, Haruto continued to isolate himself throughout his middle school years.

Now, as a first year high schooler, Haruto faces a new “problem.” One casual day at school, the classroom becomes perfectly still. Time has stopped again. Having experienced this time-stop multiple times, Haruto begins to wonder if this time-stop is actually a dream. But all of this doubt stops when he meets Sakazaki Kuon, someone else who knows and experiences the time-stop. She is also part of a team of members who defends the world from monsters who attack the world using this time-stop dimension: Kohakjal. What relation does Haruto have with a group who fends off time-stop monsters? Could it be that he's the only who can truly fight them off?

The world is filled with many strange events, from the horrific to the more exciting. But one city was “visited” by a single “egg” that held an unknown “demon,” which was investigated by many people of the world. Humans who have come in relation to those connected to the “egg” ended up dying out of pain and suffering. To end this havoc of suffering, the one existence directly related to the egg, the Dog-Lord, and a German lady who has transferred to the country for yet unexplained reasons, are the only ones who can do something to this “egg,” but what is this egg exactly? Was the one who came out of the egg really the demon they think it is?

There were lots of weird manga this week, but none really caught my interest. Saihate Arcade was the most interesting to me... pretty quiet, but lots of quirky characters with tragic stories.
Here's what vyc had to say:
Love Riron - Liked this one the most this week. Main character who has no clue about talking and building chemistry with women hilariously starts doing so with the help of some random ghost. Inspiring (?) and funny.
Now for Midori-Mori's take on his manga:
Another week has passed, and this weeks choice intrigued my soul. I looked at both titles, and thought of them boring at first, but I was wrong. Don't ever judge a book by its cover!

Trauma Ryoushi Kesshou is a supernatural series where the protagonist has to fight time-stopped monsters, which may sound cliche at times, but the background of each character of the story makes it worthwhile. Utsuro Fune May seem like a confusing horror series, but if you don't let your mind think too, too much, you'll fit loose ends. Hope this helps you readers understand these two series. ^.^

My opinion:
Not much really piqued my interest, althoughMahou Shoujo of the End sounds like it might be interesting even though the concept doesn't sound particularly new...
