New Manga Shout Out: 12/24/12 - 12/30/12

Welcome to the next New Manga Shout Out. This weekly article introduces you to manga that are new and/or have not been scanlated yet. This week features an author recounting ghostly incidents, mahjong, and a boy able to see all women naked! Remember, if you like any of the series, favorite them. In this volume, she covers a few of her more recent experiences during her travels across Japan, whether for leisure or for business. Many of the stories revolve around the history of the land or hotels where she stays. Some of her stories may incite chills down your spine, while others can be more comical and/or lighthearted.

It's been 10 years since the mother of the Tachibana family passed away. Now, for the first time in 10 years, Shigeru (18) will be introduced to his new mom: Kaoru. His sister finds Shigeru to be immature and almost comical, while his father seems to be oblivious of any tension created by the introduction of the new family member. At the airport on Christmas Eve, Kuji Shousuke was rushing to get a picture of the pop star Cynthia for the media company he works for, when something happened that would change his life forever. He stumbled, tackling the pop star and kissing her. Everyone was outraged, but she gave him a kiss back as a "Christmas present."

However, her return kiss might not be as innocent as it first seemed. Shousuke has suddenly started seeing all the women around him, even images in posters, as naked. What's worse, there are periods where he loses his mind and attacks them lasciviously. Those who know him know he claims to be allergic to women, so this behavior is completely out of character for him. When Shousuke encounters a young woman named Kuma, who appears to have some supernatural powers, she realizes that something has been done to awaken these primal reactions in him. Shousuke gives her a temporary place to stay as she and her friends try to help him figure out what has been done to him and what to do about it.

In an old tunnel on the route to a school, there is a rumor that each summer a ghost appears. That ghost is Hanako, an eternal 24-year-old woman in a sleeveless shirt and a miniskirt! This 4koma follows the many people who encounter Hanako-san, a friendly ghost with a strong personality!

This is what tethysdust said this week:
Nothing really caught my eye. Tokime Densetsu Kura Daruma could potentially have an interesting story, thought it has quite a lot of nudity and violence, but I wasn't really a fan of the art style. Tenpai could be interesting for people who are really into mahjong.

Here's what DrCoke had to say:
Mierundesu is very adorable with a hint of horror mixed in. Don't be fooled by the front cover image: the author is well capable of drawing grotesque images of ghosts. I would recommend this manga if you want to read short horror stories depicting the cute author being terrified constantly.

As for Tachibana... that one did not keep my attention for long.

My opinion:
None of the manga really seems to interest me... ^^;;
