New Manga Shout Out: 4/8/13 - 4/14/13

Welcome to the next New Manga Shout Out. This weekly article introduces you to manga that are new and/or have not been scanlated yet. This week features a nursery school story teller, a koto club, and a magical girl/witch duo. Remember, if you like any of the series, favorite them. Shinokawa Shioriko, a young owner of a bookstore in Kamakura, loves old books. Separate from the contents of the book, they each have their own story, slowly built as they pass from one person to another. Shioriko loves learning the stories of each old book that comes her way. Gora Daisuke was just scared off of books by his grandmother, an avid collector. When he got into her library one day as a child, she responded angrily and violently. Now his grandmother is dead, and it's time to deal with her belongings. He comes across the complete works of Natsume Soseki, which appear to be autographed! When he is eventually directed to Shioriko to ask about it, she responds with so much more than a simple answer about the signature. As he sees Shioriko's enthusiasm, it looks like knowing Shioriko might lead Daisuke to a new path toward appreciating books!

Ako is a student at an art university, though she's far from the top of the class. One day, the head of the school is removed due to illness and an extremely logical-minded young man named Kaneda Masumi takes his place. Masumi looks like a businessman, and he starts by making logical economic steps for the school--by dramatically increasing tuition for the following year. Ako doesn't want to ask her grandmother to support her with even more money, and after getting the bottom grade (E) on an assignment, she doesn't think she has a shot at a scholarship. When she breaks down in tears while talking over her options with Kaneda, he treats her with unexpected kindness, telling her to have more faith in herself. Now Ako is determined to work her way into a scholarship position, but she and her friends' ways of thinking still constantly clash with Kaneda's logical view of the world!

Shota, a man in his late 20s, works at a nursery school, and he tries his best to make the children laugh and smile. However, the children seem to have a hard time paying attention to his comedic storytelling. One night, he goes to a storytelling theater, and ends up getting some useful advice from a woman who performed in the show. Afterward, he re-tells his comedic story in a way that is extremely well accepted by the laughing children, and he decides that performance storytelling is what he wanted to do with his life. Soon he begins to take steps to make this dream a reality!

In Edo Period Kyoto, Japan, the low-ranking samurai Amano Moritake serves the noble Hinonishi family. To her surprise, the Yuuki family lawyer, a young man named Hino, soon becomes her emotional support in this difficult situation. However, Tsumire's reactions to him might mean that she wishes he were something more...
