New Manga Shout Out: 1/16/12 - 1/22/12

Welcome to the next New Manga Shout Out. With the no-raws/scans rule on MH, you have to work a bit to find these mangas. The Tsukiboshi family has been known throughout the generations for their forward thinking inventions. The youngest inventor of the family is Rikuma, a technology genius who has created countless innovations in his young lifespan. Rikuma receives a gift from his grandfather: the will of Kyunosuke, his ancestor who was the first and best inventor of the Tsukiboshi family. With his two sisters Misato and Miku, Rikuma travels to the so called mansion left in the will. Inside the mansion that literally appears out of thin air, they find a female android prototype named Setsuna. When Rikuma accidentally activates Setsuna, he is unwillingly sent on an adventure to protect the planet from invasion and destruction.

This is a story set in the 1980s, when the anime and manga industries were on the edge of great future developments. 18-year-old Honoo Moyuru is a student at a fictionalized version of the Osaka University of the Arts, where he bumps into various other students who will become great in these industries (such as the animator Hideaki Anno, of Evangelion). Honoo is determined to make it big as a manga writer, and his friend, a cute girl named Tonko, is supporting him all the way. He plans for his future career as he attends a school overflowing with creative genius! But does he have the skill to make his burning ambition a reality?

But when Chisato is taken out of commission, Sara becomes the new member of Qeenaatha. She thought making new friends was going to be the worst of her problems, not becoming a costumed heroine.

One day, she is attacked by strange dead-eyed people on her way to school, only to be saved by an equally mysterious long-haired man. Later that day, her friend at school, Jion, seems to fall under the same murderous influence. To her surprise, she finds herself capable of defending herself from his violent attack. Afterward, the long-haired man she met in the morning, Zerozaki Soushiki, arrives once more, this time to invite her to become his little sister. What has Iori become involved with, and will she be able to survive this change to her life?

This is what tethysdust said this week:
Bouken Erekitetou has some nice art, particularly on the scenery. The story thus far seems really simple, though. Giragira was a pretty interesting story--it's usually girls who are put in that predicament in manga. I liked Juujika no Majutsushi, it's starting out fairly episodic, but with very interesting cases that aren't simply 'monsters'.
Here's what vyc had to say:
Deban Desu yo Kondou San - First thing I noticed was the incredibly clean artwork. I liked the plot even though the main character is a girl attempting to be girly. Even guys can read it and enjoy it. Nice balance of sexy/comedy and romance

Soshite Fune wa Yuku - Everybody thinks of one piece when you say pirate manga but this series is just as interesting imo. Must more comedy is integrated into this even in the most serious and tense scenes. I liked it personally.
My opinion:
Deban desu yo? Kondou-san! sounds like it might be a cute read~ Giragira sounds like an interesting concept since I've never really heard of older men as hosts. Zerozaki Soushiki no Ningen Shiken might interest people since it's from the author NisiOisiN, the author of Bakemonogatari and Medaka Box.
