Welcome to the next New Manga Shout Out. This weekly article introduces you to manga that are new and/or have not been scanlated yet. In the future, many arts and sciences have stagnated, but cosmetic surgery has been developed to the extreme. Now people can cheaply and easily change their appearance, not only to become more beautiful, but also to gain inhuman attributes, like cat ears or wings. The short stories in these volumes focus on various situations that arise as a result of this advanced technology. People can switch genders or change their apparent age, and some people also make themselves deliberately ugly. There are also highly regretted surgeries, such as the otaku who makes himself into an anime character, or those who take 'bigger is better' a little too far to the extreme in modifying their sexual characteristics. It is a strange new world of cosmetic surgery, and there are many stories to be told!

Nakajima Atsushi was kicked out of his orphanage, and now he has no place to go and no food. While he is standing by a river, on the brink of starvation, he rescues a man whimsically attempting suicide. That man is Dazai Osamu, and he and his partner Kunikida are members of a very special detective agency. They have supernatural powers, and deal with cases that are too dangerous for the police or the military. They're tracking down a tiger that has appeared in the area recently, around the time Atsushi came to the area. The tiger seems to have a connection to Atsushi, and by the time the case is solved, it is clear that Atsushi's future will involve much more of Dazai and the rest of the detectives!

Hachisuka Wakaba's happiest memories are of when she was young, eating homemade dinner with her happy, smiling mother. However, life with her single mother was not always happy. Sometimes her mother, tired from work, would yell at Wakaba or even hit her. One day, her mother simply left, leaving Wakaba behind. She was taken in by a relative, the 28-year-old Hinata Kazutomo. Wakaba moves to a new town and joins a new school, but she still has a lot of lingering emotional damage from her mother. Kazutomo knows what it's like to be abused by a parent, and he is determined to help her heal. He reaches out to her through their preparation of dinner, and they slowly attempt to rebuild happiness together. The first volume also contains a short story, "Tsutsuji no Kokuhaku."

The hero and author of Sanzoku Diary is Okamoto Kentarou. When he was young, he lived out in the country, and he knew an old man who was a hunter. In 2009, Kentarou was inspired to leave Tokyo and return to Okayama Prefecture to become a hunter himself. Using an air rifle and traps, Kentarou hunts, prepares and eats various animals. The manga covers all his hunting-related activities in close detail.

Even after one month of transferring to a new school, Aoi keeps her distance from her classmates. Inugai Hajime is a student at the H University medical school, and he dreams of becoming a clinical doctor. However, for some reason, he's been assigned to work in a forensic medical science lab, under a weird, but incredibly skilled, associate professor called Kiriyama Yuki. Hajime hadn't expected his 'patients' to be corpses undergoing autopsy, and he most certainly didn't expect the first case he attended to with Kiriyama would be the apparent suicide of a girl he knew. During their investigation of the case, Hajime also began to see flashes of the dead girl, as if she had come back to life for mere moments. Will Hajime be able to handle his time in forensic medicine, and work his way back to having living patients?

Shikatsushi looks like it could be pretty interesting. There's all kinds of stories to tell with forensic medicine. Futari no Table was incredibly sad, but it was a really sweet story as well.

All three of the mangas I summarized were promising. I just wish Ryuma was told in a more continuous fashion, instead of jumping from one character to another.

My opinion:
Beautiful People Perfect World might be an interesting read on how far someone will go with cosmetic surgery
