Shuuto is just an ordinary teenager who doesn't manage his time very well. In fact, his father pushes him so hard to excel in school that Shuuto has almost no time at all for his own interests, such as soccer.

One day Shuuto runs into the floating angel Jannu, whose job is to kill "Akumu", demon creatures born from the ill intentions of humans. In order to save her life, Shuuto allows her to take one minute of his life span. To pay him back for the sacrifice, Jannu has made him able to stop human time for one second each day, for sixty days total. Will one extra second each day be enough for Shuuto to change the course of his life?

The world is a cruel and confusing place for Mayumi. At the age of thirteen she lost her parents in a car accident. Unable to deal with the overwhelming sadness, hatred, and anger, she only wished she could stop feeling altogether.

Then, five years later, her sister becomes the first target of an incredibly bizarre incident. The victims in this incident lose a body part, without blood loss, after receiving a text message simply indicating the specific body part. The texts appear to come from Mayumi's sister's ex-boyfriend Kanno, but he claims to not be the culprit.

Mayumi works with him to solve the case, but is he truly innocent? Or is the crime related in some convoluted way to the suicide of Kanno's fiance years ago? Or is it related to an unfinished AI program he was writing which may have broken free? And even if this incident is resolved, will Mayumi ever be able to truly heal emotionally amidst the pointless cruelty of the world?

Loki, the Norse god of mischief, has been exiled to the human world by the god Odin for reasons that he doesn't understand. Along with being exiled, Loki is forced to take the form of a human child, and the only way he can return to the realm of the gods is by collecting the evil auras which take over human hearts. In order to do this, he starts a detective agency which specializes in the paranormal. Loki is assisted by his loyal companion Yamino and the pair are soon joined by a human girl named Mayura who is manic for mysteries and often unwittingly assists him in catching the auras. As time passes, however, other Norse gods and characters appear, some of whom befriend Loki and others of whom are intent on assassinating him.

It’s the story of 14 year old Kotobuki-chan, a junior high school girl who one day sees a cool fashion store while out shopping with some friends. What captures Kotobuki’s attention is the guy she sees in the window of the store. His name is Hodaka-san, and he is the owner of the store and designs all the clothes sold there. Kotobuki has a serious crush on Hodaka-san, and spends a lot of her time at the cafe across the street just watching him work through the store window.

Things change one day when Hodaka and 2 of his friends actually got to the cafe too, and ask to sit at Kotobuki’s table because the other seats are all taken. Kotobuki lies to the guys about her age, claiming to be 20 years old and in college. Hodaka-san is 26 years old, and Kotobuki is worried that because she is only 14, he will not like her. Kotobuki is thrilled when Hodaka’s friends start teasing her and ask her which of them she would like as a boyfriend, she immediately chooses Hodaka-san. The guys laugh and dub Kotobuki as Hodaka’s girlfriend. After that, Kotobuki hangs around the shop more often, and even works there sometimes, all the while pretending to be older than she is. Eventually though, things are discovered, and the relationship between Kotobuki and Hodaka becomes very strained. Kotobuki is so much younger than Hodaka, will it ever work out? She’s still only in school. Can Hodaka really care for a girl so young?

This is what tethysdust said this week:
I didn't get a chance to read Under the Rose, but I thought it also looked like one of the more interesting ones of the group (mystery, murder, revenge, 19th century England, what's not to like?). Dieland and Pudding Empire are the ones to pick if you're into absurd comedy. Also, out of the one-shots, I liked 1 Byou Tenshi the most. It was fun to see how he managed to use his one second a day to make a difference.
Not much interested me this time. A few interested me: 1 Byou Tenshi curious about the premise and how one second can really do anything since it's such a short amount of time. Archaic Chain sounds pretty good, but since it's cancelled I don't know if it's even worth reading... Go Go! Pudding Empire sounds like a fun to read, but the art turns me off a bit. Kikai Tonchibanashi - I like how he can consistently trick ayakashi. Under the Rose sounds like a really nice mystery manga~
