After the last war, the whole world is in ruins. The fighting machines that humans had made have gone out of control and can no longer distinguish friend from enemy. The remaining humans mostly huddle in their shelters, hiding from the roaming robots.

This is the story of the meeting of two loners in this destroyed world. One is Lupe, a young human, who is traveling in a possibly hopeless attempt to rid the world of all fighting machines. He dreams of returning the world to the way it was before the war. The other is an android, who calls herself Moma. Though she has the perfect memory of a robot, she has the emotions of a human. Moma has lived through a hundred years of grief and sadness and does not want to have to watch anyone die again. Is there any hope for the future of their world?

Marnagarm are dangerous creatures that are large in size, feast on humans and live in underground spaces. The Nanashiro Academy is a special school funded by the Toudou family who also funds various military organizations. The academy trains teenagers to fight Marnagarm and eradicate them from the planet.

Magami Taito, a student at Nanashiro, was on a routine mission with his classmates to take care of a single Marnagarm when he is separated from the team. Taito is saved by a mysterious beautiful girl in a school uniform and he is able to make it out alive. He later learns that the girl is Toudou Neun, the same family that owns the academy and she seems to have taken an interest in Taito. But there is something different about her and her unusually high ability to fight the monsters.

On the other hand, Shio still has not yet recovered from her previous wounds and is also having difficulty sleeping. However, she has mixed feelings enlisting the help of her young subordinates...

In a kingdom full of water wizards, the rulers have a renewable 100-year contract with a great dragon for the prosperity of their land. A young water wizard called Rindou is sent to guard his childhood friend, the princess Ena, near the occasion of the traditional contract renewal.

Things quickly go downhill as Ena fails to renew the contract with the dragon and an attempted revolt puts her and her parents lives in danger. After the coup is resolved, Ena and Rindou set out for the land of the great dragon. Ena hopes to come to a better understanding of her people and to regain the dragon's contract.　A great adventure lies ahead of them!

Even though this is a squeal to To-Love-Ru, all of our main characters make an appearance along with some new additions. Rito continues to be caught in over the top uncensored ecchi scenarios. The alien Deviluke sisters still use their unique abilities to grab Rito's love confession. NaNa and MoMo have transferred into the school and meet Mea, who seems to be a worry free and joyful girl. MoMo in particular wants to share Rito and create a harem for him. While scheming her plan, she confronts Golden Darkness also know as Yami. They are interrupted by possessed students who begin to fight with abnormal strength. Now the new plot line appears as a mysterious person who's in control of the students tests Yami's assassination skills. Who is this new enemy?

It is the 22th century and technology has advanced to the point that there are more androids than humans because of the declining human population. For that reason, women are considered to be of the highest importance and have an individual robot for the sole purpose of protecting them and taking care of their daily needs. However, when they reach puberty, they are separated from their android to be schooled.

A young girl named Rinne was assigned an android named Ka-In that was made to resemble her late father. Rinne grows more attracted to Ka-In each day and Ka-In in return can not help but feel compassion and protective of her. Rinne proposes that the two run away together and live without the fear of being separated. Ka-In has to make a decision between choosing his love for Rinne or following his duty as an android.

This is what tethysdust said this week:
I enjoyed Machine Head, to me it felt like a story about never losing hope. It also seems like the premise could support a series. The water wizard one had interesting art. A lot of the fight scenes (which, invariably, involved a lot of flowing water) were drawn with kind of a neat pen-and-ink style.
Here's a note from vyc:
Not too many quantity this week but each one is high in quality. Eighth - action/comedy series where the main character is very passionate and wants to do good in the world. Some ecchi scenes and surrounded by girls that he would never get. Neun- reminds me a lot and i mean a lot of evangelion. even has a Asuka type character. i think it will get really interesting soon. fighting monsters and a mysterious super strong girl. Usotsuki Roid - one shot but gives a perspective on how the future might be. romance story for those interested.

My opinion:
I know Last Ranker will probably be popular with the action crowd and To Love-Ru Darkness will please the ecchi crowd with it's return. However, I'm more interested in Shima Shima since I've heard that it's a really good series as well as both Machine Head and Usotsuki Roid, both which seem like touching stories.
