New Manga Shout Out: 3/28/11 - 4/3/11

Welcome to the next New Manga Shout Out. With the no-raws/scans rule on MH, you have to work a bit to find these mangas. Hope you all had a fun April Fool's Day~ Anyway, this week features a lazy writer, demon hunting exorcist and an otaku with an imaginary girlfriend. A Collection of Short Stories:

1) Nee-san Countdown: One day, Ritsuko finds that her parents kind of promised her hand to Saruwada, the scariest guy in school. If Ritsuko is a little lamb, the yakuza punk Saruwada is a deadly wolf, and so she just goes along with the relationship out of fear. Will she find a way out so she can chase the boy she actually has a crush on? As she gets to know Saruwada, what kind of person will she find behind his gruff facade?

2) Sunao ni Narenai Albireo: Hikaru and her brothers were raised by their father after their mother's death, and they all developed a pretty crude manner of speech. She writes all the nice things she'd like to say down in her notebook, but all that seems to come out of her mouth are insults. Understandably, everyone at school just thinks she's a jerk. When a kind, well-spoken guy comes out from Tokyo to their home in the country, will he be able to help Hikaru find a way to let her friendly intentions show?

3) Yuuzora Ensen: Minoru's looking for a girlfriend. When a cute girl called Anri shows up, remarks on his orange hair, and asks him to come with her, he goes along without hesitation. But where is she taking him?

4) Gomen: Matsumo has to deal with a confusing problem. What do you do when you're secretly in love with the boy your best friend is dating?

5) Tamagoyaki: Two girls deal with their relationships and learning what they truly want.

These two unlikeliest of people cross paths one day but both of them think nothing of it until weeks later. Rikitaro is given one last shot by a record label to sign a deal but before that, they need him to get into better shape so that he is easier to sell. He stumbles upon a boxing gym which also happens to be the same gym Ooishi is filming his show. As fate’s wheels start to turn, neither man realizes that they will work together to train the best boxer ever, even better than Ooishi himself.

Touko has graduated from college, but she's still unmarried and lives with her mother. Her mother has very strong complaints about Touko's lounging around the house and her lack of a husband. Touko and her mother often grate on each other's nerves, as they have very different opinions on a lot of topics. Touko is stuck in between being a child and an adult, and throughout the manga her experiences help her to gradually mature and adjust to adult life.

Segawa Makoto was just an ordinary high school student with a little sister who was crippled in an accident half a year ago. But then, the eccentric teacher that heads the club Makoto and his friends are in quits unexpectedly, leaving some of his students with 'magic cards' that will make their wishes come true.

Makoto doesn't really believe in the card, but when he comes home to find that his sister has taken drastic action, he uses the card in desperation. After that, his life is changed forever! Now he's apparently made a contract with a demon, and a mysterious supernatural girl called Emily is after him!

Period was the most interesting for this week, though I admit it was kind of depressing. Nee-san Countdown was also pretty cute.
Here's a note from vyc:
Absolutely loved all the series I did this week. Kidou Tengai Kaname - demon hunter who is actually a demon herself. I like the characters and sort of reminds me of Inuyasha. MS Dolls - a new kind of comedy with a fusion of otaku and fighting. I think it was a very unique storyline, the comedy and characters were great. Very easy read and recommend it to anyone. Dareka no Onna - a little off genre from the other series with the heavy adult scenes but the storyline of each short story is well thought out and interesting to read. RRR - definitely the best of this week. Lazy 27 year old starts boxing because that is the only thing left he can do. Very emotional yet funny. It is very easy to root and get behind the main character and cant help but like the guy. The other characters are super well developed and this series has to be picked up. Datte Aishiteru - 4koma series that is funny and heart warming at the same time. Easy quick reads makes it a pretty good series to be picked up.
My opinion:
M.S Dolls sounds really funny. I wonder how they'd go out on dates and how people would perceive him when they see him talking to thin air. XD Period sounds pretty interesting, although very dark. I sure wouldn't want to be in that sitaution. >_< I'm not into sports, but RRR sounds like something I'd be interested in checking out~
