Abunai Tosho Iinchou takes place at a middle school and is a comedy mainly focused on “otaku” culture. The story touches on everything from girls with glasses, to maid outfits, to Gundam machines and Yuri culture. The manga starts at the school library (Toshokan) where we are introduced to Fumimi, the new chairman of the library club and Takayama, a member of the club. We are then exposed to the other wild clubs that exist in the school like the “Shake” club who are just a bunch of horny boys to the girls-only club where we see lesbian scenes. Overall, the storyline is great and the different otaku cultures make it a very funny manga.

Ichino Fukuyama and her fraternal twin brother Nita are animators! Once they graduated from high school, they followed their dreams to Tokyo and joined the Memochi Pro anime company! They refused to let the warnings of their parents and friends keep them from accomplishing their goals.

However, it turns out that being an animator is actually a difficult dream to accomplish, with lots of job pressure, deadlines, low-pay, and no job security. On top of that, Ichino discovers that many of the other female workers don't even like to watch anime, and are embarrassed to be caught even talking about it. Ichino and Nita continue to give it their all, and stretch their meager paychecks as far as possible, all to accomplish their dreams of becoming successful animators!

Asuka Jun is the daughter of the great Asuka family zaibatsu, and her monstrous dragon-lady of a mother is insistent that she marry someone picked by her parents, as is traditional for an Asuka family daughter. Luckily, Jun is a martial-arts skilled, body-building, powerful woman, so she's able to stand up for what she wants, which is simply to live her own life and eventually marry someone of her choice. But Jun's female relatives, who also seem to be body-builders, are dead set that all Jun needs is to be sexually awakened, by force if necessary.

Strangely, it is the men in Jun's life who are her only allies. Her father tries to help her, but he's pretty cowed by his monster-wife. Jun's closest ally is her new butler, a friendly, good-natured young man called Oonami Kuratta, who is unfailingly loyal to Jun and treats her with a respect she has rarely encountered in her life.

Utsuru Sanada is a professional photographer at the age of 17, he can guess the exact 3 sizes of any girl, he can memorize anything he sees, and he can counterattack karate moves (Most guys would want these abilities). Why? Because he has superb photographic memory called “Shutter Eye” (Shutter as in the shutter of a camera). He meets Niko Kurihara, the female protagonist, who dislikes men, is a master of martial arts, and is of course beautiful.

One-shot:
Utsuru attempts to prove to Niko that he is not the guy she thinks he so he can take a picture of her. He starts by investigating Niko’s friend’s date, who appears to be a deceiving guy according to rumors… Filled with action, comedy, and a little ecchi, "Lock on!" makes its debut in Shonen Jump! Utsuru wants to wants to convince Niko to let him photograph her while she's smiling and possibly even recruit her for a magazine! But in order to do that, he must first convince her that not all men are wolves. Niko's friendly and popular childhood friend Yuki also wants to help Niko get along with boys, so she arranges a welcome party for Utsuru and all of their classmates at an amusement park! What will happen when Niko decides to loosen up and give associating with boys one more chance? Will Utsuru the "hentai cameraman" ever be able to get permission to take pictures of her?

Niwa, a college student of architecture, is moving into his deceased grandfather's house. He didn't know the man very well, but the house is conveniently close to school, and his grandfather was actually the architect who designed it. There's something unsettling about the house, though, and while he's wandering around, Niwa finds a mysterious old photograph of some girl who isn't his grandmother.

Later, he goes along with his friend Akira to take drawings of another old house that's going to be demolished. As he meanders through this old house, he has a somewhat supernatural and startling experience. Are these feelings and occurrences a result of the souls of the buildings themselves, as Akira suggests? Or is there some even deeper mystery to Niwa's uncanny experiences?

In the future, in a rush much like the American gold rush, many people immigrated to our solar system's asteroid belt to mine the asteroids. A society developed out in the belt, and the citizens, who were generally looked down upon by earth citizens, came to be known as "Belters". Eventually, this community sought independence from the earth, ushering in a war. The Belters could not stand against the earth military, and they were defeated, falling back under the harsh control of the earth.

Twenty years later, an old man called Bou discovered a still-living baby in a tank within the wreckage of a ship from the war. He named the boy Cross, after the Belter's greatest hero, and raised him with the hope that he would grow to become a messiah for his people. At the age of ten, Cross is captured by earth soldiers and forced to leave his guardian's care. What connection does this young boy have to the legendary hero Cross? Will he be able to pass through the trials that lie before him, and fulfill the expectations he does not even know that his people have of him?

All problems are made to be solved by excessive use of military weaponry! Or at least, that's what college student Nomoto-kun seems to believe. He's commonly called "Meisai-kun" (Camoflague-kun) by his classmates, due to the fact that he wears fatigues to class every day. Whether it's helping a classmate throw off a stalker, killing a wild animal, or going to the beach on holiday, Meisai-kun, his overly-militaristic friends and his enviable stash of weapons (and live ammo) are up to the task!

His friends from class, two relatively normal girls called Tomo and Rie, keep him more or less connected to his normal life as a college student. Unfortunately, they often find themselves being pulled into his ridiculous, over-dramatic, military-eque situations!

Rokubuchi, an average middle school male student, accidentally finds two of his female classmates, Natsume Oinugawa and Tamazawa Hisae, making out after school. After much debate, Rokubuchi confronts them only to find out an incredible secret about Natsume. She is a werewolf and because of puberty, the wolf side of her genes starts to get more dominant. Natsume is now able to turn into a half wolf state with paws, wolf ears and a tail. To suppress the growing wolf side, Natsume has been drinking human blood from Tamazawa and now that Rokubuchi knows her secret too, he also becomes Natsume’s blood dispenser.

Amazingly, when Natsume drinks blood from a person, that person starts to fall madly in love with her regardless of gender. How will hormone raging middle school teens be able to control themselves and keep Natsume’s secret?

Kuon Hizuka is the chief of the Spirit Investigation division in the Police Department. Her ability to possess people through the transfer of her spirit is used to locate and apprehend criminals. Her recent assignment is to stop the assassination plot of the Kueb ambassador. The mission is successful but during the course of the arrest, Kuon detains two women who were helping the assassination group, Chiaki and Tokio, who also have the ability to possess people. Chiaki is forced into the Spirit Investigation division in order to keep her partner, Tokio from being charged with terrorism.

Possession Tracer has a really great concept for a story and has the potential to really capture the reader. The comedic scenes keep the story fresh and the entire “possessing” ability is really deep and has not been fully explored yet which makes it a very interesting manga.

Many different anthropomorphic predator and prey species are intermingling in a fantastical African savanna society! It is a strictly structured society with many rules, such as those governing when and where a predator is allowed to hunt their prey.

One lion, Leon, does not quite fit into the role nature has chosen for him. He doesn't grow his mane out, and, despite his physical strength, he shows no real interest in establishing territory and acquiring a harem of lionesses. But the most abnormal quirk of all is that Leon is a vegetarian lion!

His tiger companion (who has a bit of a crush on him), is firmly of the opinion that herbivores exist to be eaten, but she manages to mostly put up with his vegetarianism. Even so, Leon's decision to take a frightened gazelle under his protection might be pushing the tiger's uneasy tolerance a bit too far. What's more, the jackals tracking the gazelle appear to also have some kind of business with Leon...

Instead of cute ears or a tail, she has a cat-face... cat eyes, cat nose, and a cat mouth. Therefore, instead of being adorable, she's scary and inscrutable, to classmates and teachers both! Particularly terrorized is Yamada Hana, who sits next to her. Hana would like to get along with Neneko, but can't help thinking the cat girl is treating her like some sort of servant. Will the students be able to get past Neneko's aloof and frightening demeanor and actually get to know her?

Yaban no Sono follows a group of students at Norayama National College of Technology and their hilarious antics. Not only are the students at this school huge nerds, they have some screws loose and are a bit stupid. Kaneko and Esashi are the only sane people in this crazy school and are usually dragged into insane schemes concocted by Hasekura and Rojiishi. Yaban no Sono is a must read for any otaku or even someone interested in the nerd culture as the manga makes many references to them.

Only a few stood out to me this week. Meisai-kun was the funniest of all the comedies to me, it was just so ridiculously overdramatic! Lock-On is pretty funny as well. And Mega Cross would be my favorite of the serious ones, it's a nice traditional SF story. Yamataika would be really interesting for anyone into Okinawan mythology/Ryukyuan religion.
Not many of the mangas interested me, but how Anime ga Oshigoto! shows the behind the scenes of the anime industry would be something nice to learn about. If you're looking for a new sports manga, check out Baggataway since it has 3 chapters out already, although it hasn't really shown any real 'rivals' yet. I'd want to read Lingerie Publicity because I like genderbenders. I already checked out the scanlation out for Lock On! and it seems like a cute series that kind of replaced Ane-Doki in Jump. There's a one-shot too so you should definitely check that out. Mahoromi - Jikuu Kenchiku Genshitan's art looks good and it's from the mangaka of Acony so I'd definitely want to check it out~ Natsume Vurdalak! sounds really cute with both a guy and a girl falling for a girl along with a mix of werewolves.
